- Broker
- A licensed broker is required to facilitate the purchase in this state. Direct purchase not permitted.
- BID Card
- A state-issued BID Card or equivalent credential is required; obtain it from the state authority before purchasing.
- Dismantler
- An Illinois dismantler, rebuilder, or scrap processor license is required for salvage purchases. Foreign buyers must provide a notarized English translation of equivalent home-country credentials and demonstrate export intent.

Broker States
In states where direct purchase is not permitted for your buyer type, a licensed broker is required to facilitate the purchase on your behalf.
BID Card States
Before bidding on salvage vehicles through Salvato in certain states, buyers must obtain a state-issued Buyer Identification (BID) Card — a separate credential issued directly by the state. The BID Card is independent of any Dealer, Salvage Dealer, Recycler, or Dismantler license you may already hold. Salvato cannot obtain or apply for a BID Card on your behalf. Contact the applicable state authority directly to obtain this credential prior to bidding.
Exporters — All States
All title and sale documents for exporter transactions will be stamped EXPORT ONLY. This stamp documents that the vehicle is leaving US jurisdiction and serves as the export intent declaration at the point of sale.
